Retired FVPD Police K9 Remco

Donation protected
On 12/26/2014 Retired K9 Remco was rushed to the emergency vet and underwent emergency surgery. Remco had a blockage in his stomach that would not allow food to pass from his stomach for digestion causing his stomach to swell and bloat. Remco was in surgery for approximatly 1 1/2 hours until all of the food and blockages could be removed. He was stapled up and taken to recovery where Myers was able to spend some time with him until he awoke. Remco's Medical bills currently total more than $2,300.00 and are expected to go up depending on how long he must stay for observation. Remco's medical bills were paid by the Police Department while he was in service, but became the responsibility of his handler upon retirement. Any donation will go 100% towards Remco's Medical treatment and any amount over actual cost will be donated to another Police K-9 in need.   If you are unable to donate all prayers are appreciated.

K-9 Officer Remco was born on March 5th 2005 and was imported from Holland in 2007 at 3 years old.  Chad Myers was selected in 2007 to be the Fayetteville Police Department’s next K-9 Handler and attended the Alabama Law Enforcement Canine training center for K-9 Team Training and Certification.   Myers and Remco graduated as a dual purpose K-9 Team specializing in apprehension, tracking and narcotic detection in October 2007.

During his tenure K-9 Officer Remco assisted his handler in a variety of functions throughout the police department and in the community.  Remco has made appearances in children’s television programs and various news networks both during live action and community events.  Remco’s personality made him perfect  for demonstrations at community events around the city.  He was always a crowd favorite at the Junior Police Academy, Citizen’s Police Academy and Christmas with Police, where adults and children within our community got a chance to interact and learn about the functions of the K-9 Program.

Remco was available to respond to any other jurisdictions needing the assistance of a Police K-9.  During his career Remco has not only assisted our local agencies such as the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Peachtree City PD, Tyrone PD, but other agencies that did not have the services of a Full service K-9 such as  Senoia PD, Riverdale PD, Clayton Co SO, Lake City PD, Morrow PD, Union City PD, Forrest Park PD and Georgia state patrol.

Remco has always done a great job at protecting the citizens of Fayetteville and in his retirement continues to do the same for Myers and his family.
