Help Make "Happy Meehl's"

The Meehl's are fighters, but their strength cannot overcome the costs associated with treating Shani's rare Mast Cell Disorder.

For those of you who don't know Shani, she is a kind and loving mother, wife, daughter, and friend. She is the first to give in any way she can to anyone in need. In fact, in November 2004, Shani donated her kidney to her mother whom was suffering with nephrotic syndrome. She is a Special Education Teacher at an urban high school in Nebraska, who has dedicated her life to giving to children and making this world a better place.

Two years after surviving a serious car accident and helping her daughter through (who was only 5 years old at the time) a major brain surgery, Shani's health started to quickly decline. Shani suffered a mini stroke (while teaching), seizures, crippling migraines, severe all over bone and muscle pain, and several episodes of near fatal anaphylaxis (allergic reaction). After 3 years of being shuffled from one specialist to another, Shani was finally diagnosed with a very rare Mast Cell Disorder. Shani was referred to a specialized hospital in Denver, Co, where her husband, Ryan, stood by her side as she underwent 7 days of extensive testing. Although, the Meehl's found some answers, the testing revealed that Shani's disease was more severe than thought. Shani will have to return to Denver in order to undergo invasive in-hospital treatments that will hopefully help her body be able to fight the symptoms of her disorder. Although there is no definite cure, treatments, medication, and faith, is what will keep Shani and her family hopeful and healthy.

Please show your support to Shani, Ryan (husband), Mya (10 year old daughter), and Quilan (6 year old son), through this difficult time. Please donate to the Meehl family to help them cover medical costs not covered by insurance and help Shani get well.

Thank you so much for help, whether it be words of support, or a monatary donation, everything helps Shani as she fights this disease. Please feel free to pass this along to others, and share Shani's story.
