In memory of Pops Appalachian Trail

I am asking for donations to help me through this fantastic journey on the Appalachian Trail. I have always been an adventurer! I attribute this to my Grandpa retired Army Pilot CW4 Dave Ohlsen or as we call him Pops. He served his country well with one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam, receiving a bronze star with valor for something he never talked about.
He had a great love for his country and his family! The best part about Pops was, no matter what crazy dream I had, or what I told him I wanted to do with my life, he was always supportive. He always told me to live large, be adventurous and eventually I would find out where I belonged in this world. He used to take us grandkids on vacations to the beach, or rock hunting, and yes, hiking up mountains in Fort Davis where he lived!
In January of 2014, at 70 years old, he passed away from stage 4 lung cancer. I was devistated, we all were. It has been really hard for me and my family. He was an amazing man, a hero! At the funeral in Arlington, I walked behind him, one last hike with my Pops! I'd love to be able to dedicate this trip on the Appalachian Trail to him. I plan to leave the end of February. I'm not sure how much money I will need. My parents are going to get me started, I just want to be able to make it to the end! To say I did something not only for myself, but for one of the men I really looked up to in my life. For Pops!!
