I, Jacquelyn Brown, has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. I am 55 years old. Parkinson’s is a progressive, neurodegenerative disease wherein the neurons in a specific part of his brain are dying, causing tremors, muscle rigidity, slowness of movement, dystonia, and difficulty swallowing, among other things.
The diagnosis is new to me, my symptoms have been present for a little over a year. I have a significant tremor in my right arm, I couldn't swallow my food or my medicine, and my right leg would drag causing me frequent falls. My movements are slow causing things as simple as buttoning my shirt to take several minutes, and I experience stiffness throughout my body. Parkinson's Disease is unpredictable and no one can tell us how quickly it will progress. Today I have mostly good days. I am still able to drive.
The advice we have been given is to have my life in order, financially and otherwise, and to be prepared for the worst because of the unpredictability.
I am left with the option of GoFundMe; humbling myself before my friends and family, their friends and family, and hopefully their friends and family as well, to ask for help.
Parkinson's Disease has no cure, and the treatment may at least slow the progression of this disease.
I am raising these funds to help me manage getting through month to month. I would like to keep up my volunteer work. This disease is debilitating so the least I can do makes me feel better. After expenses I am left with under $300 to get through the month. With that money I have to buy groceries, gas money, household supplies and more.
I cannot thank you enough for your donation to my Parkinson’s Disease Fund, and for your support. My pledge in return for your kindness is that I will live the best life possible, always help others where I am able, and I will find and create opportunities in life to “pay-it-forward,” as you are doing now.
And finally, please share this campaign through Facebook and email with a personal messages from you to your network asking them to read it, consider contributing, and sharing as well. That is the only way this campaign will be successful.
Thank you for your love, your support, and the incredible gift of your help.
