Help For Yvonne

My dear friend Yvonne is suffering from Multiple Myeloma - a type of cancer that is affecting her bones, blood, and kidneys.  She has become family to my family and my children adore her as you can see.  I could write a book about her  - how wonderful she is and everything she has done to survive for quite a few years.  She is a quiet, private person who wants to solve her own problems, but she agreed reluctantly this afternoon to let me start this site for her.  Due to financial difficulties, she felt like she had to keep working and put off her chemotherapy.  I was heartbroken to hear it.  No one should ever have to make a choice like that.

Yvonne also has diabetes and asthma, but she is one of the most determined people I know.  No matter what the circumstances were, she showed up to work.   She now has to face that she is too ill to do so and lost her job because she couldn't keep up with the physical demands.  Unfortunately, she doesn't qualify for unemployment in her particular situation and she was hired as a contractor.  Yvonne needs to focus on fighting for her life and is currently applying for disability, but the social worker said it could take up to 8 months to be approved.   She doesn't need 8 months of unbearable financial stress on top of having cancer.  I'm hoping we can raise enough to help her with basic expenses until she qualifies.
