Jazz Crawl: Spirit of New Orleans

'Bringing the Spirit of New Orleans’ to a city near you! The Jazz Crawl is expanding its celebration of life, culture, and local arts into new cities. The funds raised will sponsor the participation of New Orleans artists to appropriately present the evolution of New Orleans music, dance, and parade traditions.

Mardi Gras Indians
Social Aid & Pleasure Clubs
Brass Bands
Rising Stars

The sponsorship will include local entertainment and activities to maximize the significance of the cultural exchange between the New Orleans artists and the hosting city. Depending on the success of our campaign, commissions and other gifts will also be granted to the artists to reward their artistic talents and prevalence as torch bearers of New Orleans culture.

$10,000 GOAL
We're targeting March 18th to finalize arrangements for artist participation in the 5th Annual Jazz Crawl in Charleston, SC on Sunday, April 14th. After the Charleston event we will tally city votes and start planning additional Jazz Crawls in 2019.

CHARLESTON, SC JAZZ CRAWL: SUNDAY, APRIL 14TH

The Jazz Crawl for Charity celebrates the artistic culture and festive parade traditions of New Orleans as a tribute to loved ones not with us anymore. It is a unique and exciting cultural exchange that brings people together in support of local creativity, cultural preservation, and youth engagement with arts and history.

The event is highlighted by a downtown second-line parade lead by the randomly crowned King and Queen, brass bands, and street dancers. The parade pauses at a local landmark for a community drum circle with interactive cultural demonstrations. Finally, the post-parade ‘Ambassadors Reception’ caps the night off by honoring the local educators, artists, and influential figures that support the Jazz Crawl’s missions.

WHERE THE MONEY WILL GO

The distribution of the funds raised will heavily depend on the support we receive from corporate sponsorships. Regardless of that, we expect the expenses to be primarily associated with the accommodations for the New Orleans artists.

Accommodations: Transportation, Lodging, Food, Entertainment
Production: Donated Instruments, Commissions, Uniforms
Promotions: Advertising, Public Relations, Digital Media

CELEBRATION OF LIFE

The second-line tradition originated as a celebration of life at Jazz Funerals, and the Jazz Crawl for Charity was originally established as a tribute to our late Aunt Patty who loved introducing people to New Orleans culture. This correlation is highlighted by commemorating the names and memories of loved ones with tribute donation options.

Commemorate the names of your loved ones through our parades or the donation of an instrument to an aspiring student in need:

$25 Second-Line Tribute: Parade Commemoration
$100 First-Line Tribute: Engraved Instrument
