Jay's MM Journey

Donation protected
In June 2017, our dear friend Jay Moore received the heartbreaking news that he has Multiple Myeloma. Multiple Myeloma is a rare cancer of the bone marrow plasma cells.  It is treatable, however, currently there is no cure.

Leading up to the diagnosis, Jay had been dealing with debilitating back pain.  Despite his pain, he and his then fiancee Renee and their children were in the process of remodeling their home, doing the majority of the work on their own.  They purchased a foreclosure to accommodate 3 of their 4 children and were working hard to make it the home of their dreams.

They were also planning their wedding that was to happen in November 2017.  Unfortunately, due to Jay's condition and future treatments they have had to call off that celebration.

With many unknowns, Jay and Renee decided to get married Thursday July 6th, 2017 in the presence of their children and immediate family members at home.

As you can imagine this has been a whirlwind for Jay, Renee and their children.  From a revenue standpoint, timing could not have be worse.  Jay had sold his company and completed his consulting agreement at the end of 2016, and was focused on getting their home remodeled in time for the the blending of the families and his youngest son Duncan's graduation.  He also became an independent real estate agent for the Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Professional Realty Team here in Cincinnati but has not been able to build it up to a full time basis yet.

Renee was in the process of starting a music school out of their home.  In addition she was working part time for Loveland School district, teaching dance classes, as well as nannying.

Renee will now have to be home to care for Jay.  He requires help walking and also needs assistance with his day to day needs.

The medical  minimum deductibles alone will equal over $18,000.00 through the start of the next year.  This is just the beginning and is only the initial out of pocket minimums before the insurance kicks in.  Jay has had many tests, and he will need many more.  The amount that insurance will cover is never guaranteed.  We do know, however, that they have already declined one key scan, and the biggest expense of the bone marrow stem cell replacement and corresponding hospital stay towers in the future.  As you can imagine, this is very stressful and overwhelming.  The medical bills alone could become astronomical.

If you are like most of us you unfortunately know someone who has gone through a diagnosis like Jay's. You understand just how much anxiety is involved and how many bills and costs associated with the care can add up.  Like most people you want to know how you can help.

We have set up this page to give financial support so that Jay and Renee can focus on the most important things: his care and getting his cancer into remission.

The money raised will go towards Jay's medical bills, medical equipment and other direct expenses. It is their genuine hope to be able to donate any remaining proceeds to the local Multiple Myeloma foundation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Nichole Babinec.  My email is [email redacted]. Donations can be made by check to Jay's MM Journey.  You can also donate directly on this site via credit card or Paypal account.

Thank You for your support and prayers for Jay!  I know he and Renee are in awe of the outpouring of love you have shown.  Let's keep lifting Jay higher.
