JayNii Streetwise Orphanage

Dear Friends and Family,
Our names are Alexa and Katie and we are currently in Accra, Ghana staying at the JayNii Streetwise Foundation. Jay and Nii are the two founders of the orphanage and two of the most selfless, loving people who have welcomed us into their home with open arms. Their mission is to take in children who's families are unable to afford school and to educate and provide the funding to get them to school. They house 25 children and with some funding are able to provide two meals a day and send the majority to school. However, there are a handful of children who they can't afford to send and rely on volunteers to educate.
We travelled here about about one week ago with the plan to volunteer at a local hospital as newly graduated Physician Assistants as well as at the orphanage by teaching, playing and helping with everyday tasks such as cleaning, painting and cooking. We quickly realized that there is much more needed than we are able to provide by solely being here. We brought down many materials for the children such as pens, pencils, coloring books, notebooks, crayons, games, lots of candy and snacks, and cards. Unfortunately, mostly all of these materials have been used already. We are reaching out to you to help us raise money for the resources mentioned above along with backpacks, first-aid kits, reading books, nice shirts for church, and things that Jay and Nii need for the orphanage. It's hard to put in to words how little these kids have. A donation as little as $5.00 goes a long way here in Ghana and we would appreciate it more than anything! We are hoping to raise the money over the next 2-3 weeks while we are both still here. We have attached some pictures below of some of the kids and us and some of the few learning materials they have.
