Jayne's Journey

Donation protected
Jayne Swearingin arrived at work at KMSP/WFTC on January 7th 2014 and expected it to be a typical day at the office, not knowing it would be one of the darkest days of her life.  Soon after arriving at work,  she received a terrifying call from her doctor informing her that she has breast cancer. The weeks that followed were anxiously filled with many unknowns.  It was determined during her breast cancer surgery on January 20th 2014 that her breast cancer is Stage four and has spread to her lymph nodes and metastasized in her bone marrow.

So now Jayne is prepared for the biggest fight of her life. Her single motivation?  Her twelve year-old son Connor, the love of her life. Connor himself has faced many challenges. He is borderline autistic, but just like Jayne he will not let anything stop him. He really loves his mom and wants to make her proud….and boy is she proud.

Although Connor has a learning disability, he is mainstreamed in school and does extremely well. He has excellent grades, perfect attendance and has been chosen as student of the month at his school twice this year. He is also very popular with the ladies…Jayne and her husband Tom have raised him well.

Fortunately, Jayne has unyielding support from her loving husband Tom, her "supermom" mother, Pat and her father, Bob.

Tom has had to take a significant amount of unpaid time off from his job to be with Jayne.  However, he has not given it a second thought because she is his number one priority. Jayne’s mom Pat has been there 24/7 doing all the wonderful things that great moms do, like cooking for their family and caring for Connor. Jayne’s father Bob has been there every step of the way with constant mental and spiritual support. In fact, everyone should have a Tom, Pat and Bob if they get cancer. Jayne also has the love and support of her extended family, friends and coworkers that have her in their thoughts and prayers on a continual basis.

Jayne has some lofty short and long goals for herself. In the next twelve months she wants to create some long lasting family memories for Connor and take him on a family vacation to California. She also wants get back to her job at KMSP/WFTC on a regular basis. Jayne truly loves her work and misses her coworkers and the challenges that her job presents her. She is a longtime employee of Fox Broadcasting, with over fifteen years at the company. Jayne started out in the traffic department and worked her way up to National Sales Assistant, where she keeps her managers in line on an everyday basis.

Long term, Jayne hopes to see her son Connor graduate high school. She knows the odds are stacked against her, but she’s ready to fight. The financial strains of an illness of this magnitude are crippling for a family. Your prayers, support and generosity are welcomed and needed at this time.

Please give in whatever amount you feel comfortable and know that Jayne appreciates your support.

Thank you and God Bless Jayne!
