Jaymie's Recovery Expenses Fund

Over the last 2.5years I have climbed mountains, glaciers, volcanos, pyramids and more. I never knew why I had this sudden interest until now. God was preparing me for this time in my life when I needed to be reminded that I can climb mountains and I will again. You see, I did all of those things with "bad legs" and an unknown companion-- a 4.5 inch tumor growing underneath my spinal cord.  In May, the tumor was discovered to be the cause my bad legs. It had been  compressing my spinal cord causing nerve damage for at least 3yrs unknown to me and needed to be removed as soon as possible. On July 13th, 2017 I underwent a 10hr surgery to have the tumor removed. Prior to surgery the doctor told me I would be able to immediately walk, be hospitalized 3-4 days and return to my part-time job at Houston Community College within 4-6 weeks. However, I awoke from surgery PARALYZED from my waist down.  My 3-4 day hospital stay has turned into 2 weeks in the hospital with another 3 weeks in a rehabilitation hospital. There is no expected date for me to be able to walk or return to normal function. It could be a month, 6 months or a year....nobody knows. As a part-time employee I am not eligible for any benefits including sick-pay or disability. Monies donated will be used towards basic living expenses (mortgage and utilities) and any uncovered medical expenses ( medical equipment, doctor bills, etc...). It is a humbling experience to ask for your financial assistance in addition to your prayers. I thank you in advance for your support. Jaymie UPDATE: It has been 4.5 months since my surgery. Although not back to normal I have made progress through physical therapy. On Thanksgiving I was able to stand with my family to say grace (with assistance). On November 27th I began radiation treatment to shrink the remaining tumor attached to my spinal cord. Your continued prayers are appreciated.
