SEE HIS PROGRESS

FACEBOOK:Jonathan Jay Cordero

Hi, my name is Natalie Cordero. I NEED to raise money for my 24 year old brother, Jonathan "Jay" Cordero. He needs a prosthetic leg. My brother went from having an average, healthy active life with TWO jobs, Home Depot & Advance Auto Parts, to being an above the knee amputee and in IMMENSE pain. We are still in the hospital. John's future is very gray in regards to his remaining leg or whether it will be useful in the future.

The money we are trying to raise is not only for a prosthetic leg but also for anything else Jay may need while he attempts to recover. He does not have insurance.

*** Let me tell you his story ***
Jonathan had just come out of his job at Home Depot. It was Sunday, July 21st, 2013, 9:50 p.m. Jonathan crossed the street and sat at the bus bench next to a 47 year old man. They began a conversation about phones. My brother heard tires screeching. He remembers looking left and seeing a car's headlights. The next thing he knew he was thrown to a bush and was yelling for help. He lifted his head in time to see the vehicle, screeching his tires and driving off without stopping. He looked down and his left was nowhere in sight, he was gushing blood everywhere. He remained conscious the entire time. Amazingly a man in ARMY attire came to my brother's aid. At this point the soldier called the ambulance. Jay yelled ", DON'T LET ME DIE!" The soldier told my brother "You are not going to die on my watch" this man called the ambulance and stayed with him until ambulance came. He was taken to a landing pad where he entered a helicopter. He was rushed to Jackson TRAUMA Center here in Miami, Fl. Unfortunately the 47 year old man did not survive. Jay had immediate surgery to try to save his life. We have been here 14 days. Surgery is scheduled every 3 days for one month. The doctors are working to reconstruct his right leg which was shredded in the accident and close up the open wounds on his left stump.

The man that crashed into my bother is an illegal immigrant, with no license, driving a car that was not his, while INTOXICATED! He was arrested one mile from the scene trying to get his vehicle towed.

One of Jay's first questions was "Will I be able to work again?" My answer, although uncertain myself, was "Of course!".

My family & I want to make his life as normal as possible.
WE WANT HIM TO WORK AGAIN!

We try to stay in good spirits but it's hard.
Throughout all this we are still a strong family and are determined to keep a positive attitude.

WE ARE VERY GRATEFUL that he is alive & we will move forward with your help!!!!!

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
