This time last year, we had our first car show together, and the support you all showed brought me to tears. You are truly amazing. I'm reaching out to give a heartfelt update on my parents. We've had several people check in and offer help, so I thought it was time to share everything with you all.  I believe in the strength of this community. Dad's Health Update: In late April and early May, Dad became extremely exhausted after treatment days— sleeping 16-20 hours a day, eating very little, losing weight, and struggling more with his balance. In late April and early May, Dad became extremely exhausted after treatment days— sleeping 16-20 hours a day, eating very little, losing weight, and struggling more with his balance. In mid-May, during his scheduled 6-month GI scope, we received difficult news. The tumor in his esophagus had returned and is now larger. Fortunately, it is located lower in the esophagus, which allows him to still eat and swallow solid food. However, cancer has also returned to his liver, and he has developed fluid buildup in his abdomen. Doctors believe his body started rejecting the old treatment around the time the fatigue began, and that's likely when the cancer began to spread again. He now has a permanent catheter to allow daily drainage of abdominal fluid at home. His sodium and potassium levels are being closely monitored, as they are impacting his kidney function. Dad receives treatment once a week. While there is no cure, the current goal is to slow, immobilize, or stop the cancer's progression. An experimental drug may become available in late August, and he is at the top of the candidate list. This drug would be added to his current regimen. So far, he has had only two cycles of the new treatment, but due to unstable lab values, he has missed a few infusions and was hospitalized at one point to get his levels back to normal. He now uses a walker and is not strong enough to walk far without falling. As of June 26, his weight was just 84 Ibs. Gaining weight is critical— none of this will work unless he gains. He is week to week as far as treatment, it all depends on his numbers, weight and blood count. Mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in November. Thankfully, she has responded extremely well to chemotherapy. She had surgery in April and is scheduled to complete her final infusion on July 11. All her scans have shown no signs of cancer—a huge blessing. She will continue monthly immunotherapy treatments for about two years and will take a daily pill to help prevent a recurrence and keep her body strong So many have asked how to help. Your generosity over the past year has been a lifeline, but the fundraising account has now reached a minimal balance, unable to provide and we are facing greater needs ahead. My children and I have taken on house projects-Dad used to fix everything, but that's just not possible anymore. We've come to realize we can't do this alone. If you're able to give in any way-through time, service, materials, referrals, or donations-your help is humbly and gratefully received. From the bottom of our hearts— thank you. For your prayers, your kindness, your time, and your love. We couldn't do this without you.❤️
