<div>My grandson, Jaxson, was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia in March 2025. He is only 4. This has turned his and his family’s life upside down. They have encountered lots of hospital admissions, clinic visits, biopsies and he had a port placed for blood and platelet transfusions. He is on several medications daily to help avoid infections.

<div>End of April he received Immunotherapy which his recent biopsy showed it’s not working. Next step is Bone marrow Transplant. They are tentatively set to be admitted on October 7th.

<div>What is Aplastic Anemia? 

</div>

<div>A rare but serious blood disorder. It happens when something damages your bone marrow so it can’t make enough new blood cells and platelets. It leaves you feeling tired, more prone to infections and uncontrolled bleeding/bruising.

<div>As they start another phase of this journey, they will be missing a lot more work as Jaxson will need to be hospitalized for 4-6 weeks this stay. He will get a Broviac placed, Chemotherapy, Radiation and a Bone Marrow Transplant. After they are home, work will still be limited for Amanda as Jaxson won’t be able to be around people so they can keep sickness away. The first 6-9 months after transplant has lots of restrictions to avoid Graft vs Host.
