Javier Rodriguez road to recovery

For those of you who got here through a social media share, we thank you for taking the time to read this. Javier Rodriguez is 28 years old and works in a fabrication company in the theming industry in Orlando, FL. He is loved by so many and is currently experiencing a difficult time at such a young age. Please read more into his story below.

For those of you who are reading this that know, and love Javi, here's a little back story as to what's been experiencing over the last several weeks.   At the beginning of October he started experiencing back pain that soon became unbearable. He went to multiple doctors and specialists that intitally thought it was somesort of a spinal injury. With all of the chronic symptoms that started slowly occuring within his body doctors had at that time diagnosed him with a mild
degenerative disc disease.

On Monday November 27, the pain was so unbearable that he was admitted into the E.R in Orlando.  Shortly after his admittance they began  running tests like CAT scans, MRIs, X-Rays, Pathology scans, Biopsy, Thoracocentesis, Ultrasound, etc. in an effort to figure out what could be happening that was much bigger than a mild case of degenerative disc disease. He has had a liter of fluid drained from his lungs and is currently unable to eat or drink anything without assistance.  At this point, they have only been able to determine it to be an auto-immune disease which unfortunately does not pin-point a specific cause or treatment.  They are still unsure of the source and are continuing to monitor him in the hospital.

On December 5, Javi was transferred to a hospital outside of the Orlando area that is willing to accept his case for deeper reasearch into finding out what exactly is going on.

On December 15, he was then moved from a trauama floor to an IMCU to an ICU because his lungs has collapsed twice and crashed(bradycardia) in total of two times during his stay at the hospital. They did two bronchoscopy procedure on him to help relieve some airway. With a few complications, he is unable to breathe on his own and had to be intubated. Until this auto immune disease gets diagnosed and treated, he will still continue to have these types of problem.

Although he has medical insurance because of his age and good health he didn't opt for short-term disability coverage. Unfortunately he is not eligible for FLMA either due to his length of employment with his current employer. We are trying to help Javier focus on the good, getting well, and getting back to living his life as a normal 28 year old again. The last thing we want him to worry about is how he is going to get back on his feet after being unable to work for so long.  I know this is extremely difficult to read and comprehend if you do know him, but please keep this a secret as we would like to surprise him with the outpouring of love and support we hope to acheive.
