Back In 2000, Java Jack suffered a severe aortic aneurysm rupture that was due to a genetic condition associated with Marfan syndrome. Open heart sugery saved his life but caused a lot of trauma to his body.
In October of 2017, new anerysms resurfaced which required a brutal 19 hour open-heart surgical procedure that left his chest open for days after the surgery. He was comatose for about a week as his body struggled to regain its' organ functionality. While his upper torso, arms and speech recovered, his lower extremities were dramatically weakened.
Miraculously, Jack began to recover very slowly at Sister Kenny, but severe bouts of vertigo hindered his ability to rehabilitate his lower extremities and left him frustrated with constant delays and interuptions.
Jack has a very long rehabilitation journey ahead of him, most likely several years with possible needs for home nursing care and outpatient rehab treatment. Like all insurance, there are not unlimited funds available for rehab and nursing care for 2018 and beyond.
Jack's need for funds is urgent because his ability to work and earn income for the family has been taken away. With the the Go Fund Me campaign, he will now have peace of mind knowing that current finanical needs will be met and that he won't have to worry about unforeseen expenses related to his rehabilitation and what insurance may or may not cover.
Funds from this campaign will be critical as his livelyhood of painting has been taken away. To be the awesome husband, father and grandfather he enjoys being so much, providing for his family has now taken on a whole new challenge . These funds will help him rehab as an outpatient while he works to regain his independence...and we all know how independent Jack is!
Java Jack is NOT in the house...but your contributions will allow him to live at home while he undergoes months (18 months?) of intense phyiscal therapy and rehab. If you know Jack, he has ALWAYS been there for others. Willing to lend a hand or assist in any way he can. Now he needs our help! Let's provide some assurance to him and his family that his financial needs will not interfere with his physical therapy demands.
