Hi everyone! This is Java, my beloved furkid that has been by my side for almost a decade. As many of you know, Java has been diagnosed with lymphoma, and, after a very emotional week, I have decided to start chemotherapy treatments beginning Feb. 6, 2018.
The Treatment - The Madison Wisconsin Protocol
Once a week, for the next 20-24 weeks (depending on how he reacts to the chemo each week), Java will go to the vets office to have treatment.
Each week, a different drug is administered: Vincristine, Doxorubicin, and Cytoxan (or cyclophosphamide). This protocol will be done through four cycles. Along with blood tests to make sure his white blood cell count is up, heart exam to ensure he is up to the treatments, and vet stays, the cost is going to be $10,000.
Fortunately, this doesn't need to be given up front, but will be paid over the course of the 20-24 weeks (still a very hefty price tag).
The Backstory
This is a huge expense to endure. But Java has been my guardian angel for 9 years. He came to me as a Christmas present back in 2008, and helped me through a very difficult time in my life. To be honest, I'm not sure if I would be here today without him. #whosavedwho
Now, he is my right hand puppy! Anyone who knows him, knows that he doesn't let me get out of his sight, and is always happily trotting behind me at work.
And, speaking of work, he comes every day with me, and I can't imagine a work day without him! #gymdog
He has been with me through every high and low, twist and turn, and now it is my turn to be there for him.

This video was taken on January 30, 2018. And, as you can tell, Java isn't acting sick. This is why I feel so strongly about doing the treatment. He is so full of life.
