Jespa's College Journey

Donation protected
With your help, we can continue to plant seeds of hope, change, and opportunity for Jespa as he embarks on his journey to change his life and the lives of those in, his native country of Cameroon. His dream is to become a doctor someday and give back to his community. The doctor to patient ratio in Cameroon is estimated at 1 to 40,000 people. He’s taking the first step to achieving his dream by attending El Camino College.

Over the past three years, through the generous support of donors like you, the Children’s Burn Foundation, Torrance Memorial Hospital, and Plant A Seed (Africa), Jespa moved to the U.S and underwent reconstructive surgeries for his extensive burn injuries sustained as an infant in Cameroon. (At just ten months old, he lost his right eye, his forearm became fused to his bicep, and his fingers were twisted backwards.)  Even while undergoing over fifteen major surgeries and countless hours of rehabilitation, and moving to a new country, Jespa earned his high school degree from Arena High School, graduating with many honors and accolades last June.

While he continues to undergo surgical procedures at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Jespa will be attending El Camino College to transfer to a four-year university.

Although Jespa received three scholarships for his achievements in high school, we estimate the remaining costs of his two-years at El Camino College to be approximately $17,200.  Jespa current works parttime to pay for gas and personal expenses like school lunch. The funds raised will go towards his car payments and of his living expenses - rent, hospital bills, and school needs.

Your continued financial support will help Jespa continue on his path to success. Click here to partner with Jespa on his journey and check back here often on his progress.
