Jason's Kidney Expenses

We all have a good friend that has worked at Cueva del Pescador and Turtle Bay in Akumal for the past 15 years. Gerson (aka “Jason”) Texon Aburto has been a friendly face for many of us that have enjoyed our vacations and stays in Akumal. About 6 months ago, he began losing a lot of weight, was having a lot of headaches and his blood pressure was rising – and it turned out to be kidney disease. Thankfully, the doctors caught it soon enough that he doesn’t need dialysis – but he only has one kidney left and it is only operating at 25%. He is now taking treatment in Merida, and the costs of travelling to Merida for treatment and the medication that he needs has caused a huge strain on him and his family, Not only does the travel create a strain and the medication costs are large – just the everyday things like a special diet make things difficult. No foods that are high in fat, many fruits are prohibited and various vegetables. And if you know anything about Mexican cuisine, that’s about all there is!  So he has to be very careful about all of that to make sure that he keeps his remaining kidney as healthy as possible.

Gerson has a lovely wife named Martha and two children – Estafania (12) and Gerson Gael (2). Gerson and his wife are originally from Veracruz. 

Now, Gerson never asked for any help with this. He is a courageous person that has been dealing with this on his own. His motto on his Facebook page is “WIN OR LOSE, GO INTO THE BATTLE STANDING TALL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY – WITHOUT FEAR”.

But we can help him, even if just a little. Mexico doesn’t have a GoFundMe, so I’m running this campaign up here in the US and then when we reach our funding goal, I’ll get the money to him in Akumal. Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated.

Todos tenemos un amigo que ha trabajado durante los últimos 15 años en la Cueva del Pescador y Turtle Bay en Akumal. Gerson (también conocido como "Jason") Texon Aburto ha sido un rostro amigable para muchos de nosotros que han disfrutado de nuestras vacaciones y estancias en Akumal.

Hace 6 meses, él empezó a perder mucho peso, estaba teniendo muchos dolores de cabeza y fue aumentando su presión arterial, y resultó ser la enfermedad renal. Afortunadamente, los médicos lo cogió pronto bastante que le no necesita diálisis, pero sólo ha dejado un riñón y está en funcionamiento sólo en el 25%. Ahora está tomando tratamiento en Mérida y los costos de viajar a Mérida para el tratamiento y la medicación que necesidades ha causado una enorme presión sobre él y su familia, no sólo el viajes crean una tensión y los costos de medicamentos son grandes – sólo cosas cotidianas como una dieta especial hacer su vida difícil. No puede comer alimentos que son altos en grasa, muchas frutas están prohibidas y varias frutas también. Y si sabes algo sobre la cocina mexicana, ¡eso es todo hay! Por lo que tiene que ser muy cuidadoso acerca de todo esto para asegurarse de que su riñón restante mantiene tan sano como sea posible.

Gerson tiene una hermosa esposa llamada Martha y sus dos hijos – Estafania (12) y Gerson Gael (2). Gerson y su esposa son originarios de Veracruz.

Ahora, Gerson nunca pidieron ayuda con esto. Es una persona valiente que se ha ocupado de esto por su cuenta. Su lema en su página de Facebook es " GANE O PIEDRDA SIGO EN LA BATALLA SIGO DE PIE Y LO MAS IMPORTANTE SIN MIEDO".

Pero nosotros podemos ayudarlo, aunque sólo un poco. México no tiene un GoFundMe, así que estoy haciendo esta campaña aquí en los Estados Unidos y luego cuando llegamos a nuestro objetivo de financiación, llegaré el dinero a él en Akumal. Cualquier cantidad que puede donar sería mucho apreció.
