For those who already know Jason you know that he is a good man and one of a kind. For those who don't, here is a brief description of our friend....
Jason is a 32 year old English teacher at Okeechobee High School, where he has taught for the past 7 years. His job is his passion and his students would agree. He loves his job and his students as if they're his own children.
Jason graduated from Williamsport High School located in Williamsport, Pa. and Bloomsburg University with a Masters degree. He left the area immediately following graduation, he taught one year in VA before moving to Florida.
Jason also plays in a band called the Department, you can catch a show at Applebee's at least once a month. He has a way he can light up a room when he is playing..
In the beginning of November 2014, Jason went to his doctor to be checked out. He was suffering from what he thought was internal hemorrhoids. In fact it turned out to be Colorectal cancer. Only 7% of patients are in his age group. Treatments have been comprised of 6 weeks of Chemo and radiation cocktail. 6-8 weeks at the Ft. Lauderdale Cleveland Clinic for his operation. They will cut out the cancer area and attach a bag that he will have for 6 months. At this time he will not be able to work. IF all goes well he will have another operation to attach the colon and the bag will go away. This process will take over a year.
Even with insurance treatments are expensive and insurance only covers so much. If even half of his friends could contribute $10. We could make a huge difference. Taking the stress away from the "how am I going to afford this" and allowing him to focus on the real battle.
Jason's real desire is to keep things as normal as possible and use this situation a teaching experience. He is a fighter as we all know. Lets help J out this time and show him that we are all here for him!
