Jason Pyszkowski Has Heart!

Donation protected
“I have no time to be scared, no reason to be scared.  I have the best possible help, the best possible medical care, the best possible doctors, the best possible hospital, and the best possible support in the worst possible circumstances.  I choose life and the network of my family and friends to heal.” - Jason two hours before surgery

Friends - our amazing friend, brother, punster extraordinaire, generous soul, chef, and talented violist Jason Pyszkowski needs our help.

For the past twelve weeks, he has been in and out of the hospital suffering from severe heart troubles, including pericarditis (swelling of the tissue around the heart), accumulation of fluid around his heart and lungs, and rapidly falling blood pressure.

The diagnosis: Jason has a genetically weak heart and that a significant portion of his heart muscle is dead or just ineffective.

Jason now urgently needs a new heart.

This was all previously unknown and a terrible shock to him and his parents.

This week, Jason was put at the top of the transplant list and transferred to Stanford Medical Center and is now scheduled to receive his new heart today (November 20).  He's an ideal patient - young (35!), otherwise healthy, and at optimum fighting weight!  (And handsome to boot!)

But Jason has a long road to recovery post-surgery:  2 weeks in the hospital, 4 weeks of outpatient care near Stanford, and months of recovery and physical therapy afterwards.

And while he has insurance (thank goodness) there are always significant deductibles and uncovered expenses.  Clearly, Jason will be unable to work and, on top of everything else, is currently without a home and needs to move into a new, germ-safe place to convalesce.

Our generosity will help him get through these next few months and allow his mother and father, who reside in Florida, to be able to be here and help him recover.

All donations (less GoFunMe's fees) are sent initially to Stephen Kuhn (who set up this GoFundMe project) who will then promptly transfer 100% of those net donations to Jason's bank account.

We estimate that the donations will be allocated as follows (actual expenses may vary):
* Medical expenses, including deductibles, co-pays, home care, PT/OT, etc.: 60%
* Living expenses, including rent, food, auto, insurance, etc.: 30%
* Incidentals, including unforeseen expenses: 10%

Please give generously to support our wonderful friend!
