Jason Conn Memorial Fund

Hello everyone,

This message comes with a heavy heart, with news of the passing of our brother, friend and confidant, Jason Conn. We want to firstly acknowledge his immediate family, his sister Tracy. Together, they endured the passing of Jay and Tracy’s father last year, and their mother a few years ago. Our hearts go out to her, and everyone in Tracy’s household that Jay spoke candidly about. There, he was an uncle and a friend and a loving presence to the children. His loss will be palpable.

Nothing about this message is easy. For those not aware, Jay suffered with heart problems, having severe flares on and off over the last 5-6 years. His condition worsened as the new year started.

On the evening of Tuesday January 18th, Tim, one of his closest friends and a brother to Jason, brought him to the pharmacy to refill his medication. Jay spent a few hours at our (Tim) home afterwards, where he told us that he was let go from the Emergency ward at the hospital a few hours earlier, and was directed to go to the pharmacy with a different prescription.

Jason was adamant that he would be fine once he was dropped off at home that evening. Because the hospital had discharged him, and Jay had been through similar episodes before, there was no reason to think that he wouldn’t pull through this. It seems he passed away in his sleep that evening, positioned comfortably on the couch.

For what it’s worth, Jay spent his last evening in a loving presence with those that care very much for him. He also had amazing friends that were on their way to visit him that evening, and friends that were ready to throw down at a moments notice should Jay need their help. Jay was loved, and by all the power that this word entails, he was not alone. Not once.

Jason leaves a big gap in so many hearts…his work colleagues at Meridian Landscaping were not just his colleagues, but were family members. Jay has grown up with us, made some of us grow up, and even as we fell in health or life’s many pitfalls, together we helped each other go through life. There will be many, many stories to remember him by, and I encourage everyone to share them with everyone when they can.

Jason lived a very simple life, and because of this, there were no preparations made for such an event. We are asking for everyone that can, to please donate towards the funerary costs, and the number of other expenses that arise in these circumstances. We will update more information as it becomes known.
