I am asking for your love and assistance for a woman who has become exceptionally dear to me. She recently received news that no one wants to hear. it came without warning and it has turned her world upside down. She has been diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer which has spread to her lymph nodes and to her liver. This woman is Jasminka Kontic. She is a loving mother to two wonderful sons, Melis and Denis, and ‘Ganny’ to her beloved grandson, Denko. Those who know Jasminka, know she is a fighter. Not only did she raise her two sons as a single mother, she fled from Bosnia during the war and moved to another continent with those two sons in order to give them the best life possible - what tremendous courage she possesses! And she is no less prepared for this newly-posed battle. Through it all, a smile always adorns her sweet face and love and laughter permeate around her.
Even with health insurance, Jasminka is faced with paying $6,000 out of pocket for medical expenses for the remainder of this year. In January, her health insurance coverage, through work, will end. It is heartbreaking to think that her focus is gravitating toward worry and concern over paying her medical bills when it should be fully concentrated on healing and maintaining a positive attitude. It has been witnessed time and again that positive thought is a crucial component to defeating the monster that is cancer … it is so important that she retains this!
Times are difficult for so many people these days. Health issues and medical expenses only add to financial burdens. This is what Jasminka is facing now. Please, please pray for her healing – collective prayer is a powerful thing!
