I have a vision of making my contribution to the art of Musical Theatre...It all started when I was 10 and saw "˜Beauty and the Beast', - my first musical in the theatre. I'd never experienced anything like it, and I felt a sudden urge, like a call to be one of them onstage "“ being a part of that wonderful storytelling. I realized that was how I would spend the rest of my life. There was nothing else I wanted more in the world.
Ever since the day I saw my first musical, I've worked extremely hard, risked and put everything I am into the achievement my dream and becoming a musical performer. I have been singing in choirs, jazz and pop bands, taken lessons in ballet, jazz and contemporary dance, seen hundreds of plays, taken piano lessons, composed and written over 50 songs and started ideas for original musicals, appeared in shows on school- and professional stages, taken courses and master classes in acting and singing, taken part in several amateur groups, read dozens of manuscripts till way past midnight, and been to West End in London t least 2 times a year to watch musical performances.
I am now 18 years old. And suddenly, everything I've ever worked for has come true. I've been accepted at "˜New York Film Academy', - the only school in the world teaching musical theatre and acting for film in one program, as to prepare the students for a career in musicals both onstage and on film. Out of the thousands of applicants they admit less than 50 students, and I am so privileged to have been offered the best possibility anyone with this vocation could hope to get.
My chance is truly incredible, and it is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity, I mustn't fail to pursue.
Some people love musicals, others can't stand them "“ but what's so fantastic about this genre? The core of it displays us; our hopes and fears, our passion and sorrows. It's a world of storytelling we can escape to. It enchants us, and releases our honest feelings.
For me "“ it's what I breathe in, what lifts up my day. More importantly, I feel like I was born to be a storyteller. And I can see that I am able to reach across the scene, have a deep impact in my audiences and touch them in my own way, when I sing and perform. When I recently was admitted at the New York Film academy's Musical Theatre line, their casting director commended me for having a unique ability to connect emotionally with my role.
If you help me pursue this, you would help transform a dream into a dream come true, and I would without a doubt continue working hard to be able to repay you by strengthening musical theatre and delivering the great stories to all of you, in the seat of an audience.
