Dear friends and family, family of friends and friends of family,
I am writing today to ask for your support. My name is Erin and my fourteen year old niece Jasmine has just been diagnosed with stage III Anaplastic Astrocytoma. In layman's terms, Jasmine has cancer of the brain. This specific cancer is very rare and seldom diagnosed in children. Jasmine had 90% of a tumor removed, but will now need to travel from Miami to Jacksonville to begin radiation treatment. The tumor is located in a very sensitive area of the brain and there is only one hospital in the state of Florida that has the equipment that is necessary to treat her specific cancer. Jasmine will travel to Jacksonville next week to have a radiotherapy mold/mask made and then return the following week to start six weeks of radiation followed by chemotherapy.
Jasmine is a typical 14 year old girl (the youngest of five) who lives in Florida with her parents and siblings. Jasmine likes music, spending time with her friends and being an "Auntie".
Jasmine's mother, Nuria, will be accompanying her back and forth to Jacksonville. As a result their normal two income household will be reduced to one and the out of pocket medical and travel expenses will mount quickly. The money raised will be used for these expenses and to supplement the family's lost wages.
Although we are believing in God for a cure, we are asking for your help so that the family can focus on Jasmine and getting her well. Any blessing large or small is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your time, love and prayers.
