Raising money for Diabetes UK

On the 23rd of April 2023 I will be running the TCS London marathon for Diabetes UK

During lockdown in the summer of 2020, my brother Jesse was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. It was a really difficult time for him and us as a family having to deal with lots of changes and living in a different way to what he was used to. Diabetes UK offered us extensive support, and advice when we needed it, Jesse wouldn’t have been able to get through it and deal with this difficult diagnosis without their help and all the research they fund in the life saving technology diabetes needs.

In raising money for Diabetes UK, I hope that others can have the same amazing support that we experienced and to raise awareness of how much vital research they do for those who are diagnosed with Diabetes.

More recently, early in 2021 I was diagnosed out of the blue with a heart condition, which has been really difficult both on my physical and mental health. Having been in and out of hospital several times and having to completely adapt and change my lifestyle, although the support of both my friends and family got me through this, I couldn’t have got through it without C.R.Y who have been helpful in supporting me in many ways. I hope that in raising money for this charity it can raise awareness of all the risks and help others to be prepared and not have the same experience that I did.

After worrying that I would never be able to run or exercise again as a result of this, it will be such a massive achievement for me to be able to complete the marathon in support of these incredible charities which are SO important to me and my family.

I am aiming to raise £2,000 altogether to contribute to the amazing work which both these charities do, any donations are really appreciated no matter how big or small - any support for such great causes are welcomed!!
