Jared's Memorial Dog Park

I am Lauri Safford, Jared's mom,

 

We are raising funds for the Plano dog park to be located on E Larson St Plano, IL at the top of the hill on the way to Foli Park. We plan for this to be the best dog park in Kendall County. Jared grew up in Plano Illinois. He played and fished with his brothers at Foli Park over the years. On August 2, 2013, Jared was changing the oil in his mom’s van when the jack stand gave way. Jared passed away on August 3, 2013 at the age of 16. Although it has been 8 years since he passed, sometimes it still feels like yesterday. This park will be a lasting memory of his time with us and his generous loving spirit and joy for life. He was just shy of earning his Eagle award with the Boy Scouts. One of the projects he was considering was a dog park. He could have achieved this by the age of 14 or 15 however, he wanted to wait until we were back in Plano after a 4 year move to Urbana Il. We wish to make the park project a memorial Eagle Project as well.

 

There is so much to say about Jared that one does not know where to start. We are proud of Jared's 4 living memorials in the people receiving his organs. We wish to have a local nearby lasting memorial for the boy who lit up our world. We appreciate any and all size donations. If you knew Jared, please leave a remembrance of a time you shared with him. These are what keep his spirit alive and with us always.

 

The funds for the project will be used for the fencing, dog play equipment, landscaping and benches. The fencing has been approved by the City of Plano and will be installed in November. We would like to have the funds to cover these costs and purchase the remainder of the equipment for installation before the ground freezes if possible.
