JaRae's Pancreatectomy

hey, my name is JaRae Lamfers; i am a 16 year old living with chronic pancreatitis. i’m in need of a transplant surgery. doctors will be removing my complete spleen and pancreas- also parts of my small intestine. doctors will transplant pancreas cells into my liver with the hope that they will grow and produce insulin. it would mean so much to me, my family and friends if you found it in your heart to donate. the surgery is VERY expensive! i’m so blessed and grateful that i am here; surgery will be on the 17th of November and it will be a 12-18 your procedure. i will have a feeding tube in my stomach for 3 months after the surgery and will be diabetic until the islet cells start producing insulin. i will be staying in the hospital from the 17th, with up to 1-2 weeks in the ICU, and another 4 weeks in the hospital. and i will need to live near the University of Minnesota for about 4-8 weeks after surgery for doctors. this is a major distribution to the life of myself and the family members there to support me. thank you for hearing my story!
