Recently, Bill Brown, was discharged from Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after 47 days in the hospital. His wife Carrie had originally taken him to the ER in Concord on Thursday April 11th with what they thought was the flu. Unfortunately, Bill was not so lucky and his situation was much more serious than they had originally thought. He had staph septicemia in a femoral artery graft from surgery a month before. As Carrie called it, "it's been a crazy roller coaster ride from hell" with several life and death situations. Over the past 7 weeks Bill has undergone 14 surgeries, suffered from renal and pulmonary failure, spent time on dialysis and spent the majority of his days in ICU (in two different hospitals). Bill still has a long road to what we can only hope will be a complete recovery!
Carrie & Bill have been through hell and back!
Carrie, when not sleeping in the hospital was driving over an hour to and from the hospital daily to see Bill. That's in addition to working, taking care of their dogs Max & Morgan and handling their home life in general.
Life is hard enough as most of us know, but what these two have endured really puts all our reserves to the test.....
We are so very very happy that Bill is on the road to recovery (with Carrie, Max & Morgan by his side) but he still has lots of work ahead which prevents him from working and even doing regular day-to-day activities and health care costs/medical expenses add up very quickly, especially when you have been adding them up for 47 days.
We know they’d never ask for any help but we want to do something for them to lighten their heavy load, so we are asking instead.
Any amount helps, and we will be grateful for whatever you can contribute..
