Japan Missions & Language School

Dear family and friends,

The Lord has guided me once again back to Japan for a third time.  I’m honestly in awe that I would get to go back.  Twice the Lord has blessed me, but not for my own sake.  I go to Japan to share the good news of His Great Name.  I go that I might be a blessing to the Japanese people.  So here I am again, requesting your prayers for this mission trip, this country, and for me personally.  On my first trip in 2016, the Lord sent the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary team to Nagoya, where we saw Japanese students come to know the Lord.  On the second trip, the Lord sent us to Kobe, where several gospel seeds were planted.  I am actually still in contact with all my Japanese friends that I have made from the first two trips and I eagerly look forward to watering the seeds planted thus far.

For our third trip, the SWBTS team is embarking to Tokyo from May 11 to May 31.  Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is the world’s most populous metropolitan city in the world with upwards of 37.8 million people.  Considering that Japan is the 2nd largest unreached people group (99.8% unreached), this is a tremendous opportunity to reach the Japanese with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our team will be working with the International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries in this region and assisting with their efforts.  We will also be partnering with the work of Tokyo Baptist Church.  This trip will have the singular goal of evangelism and sharing the good news and love of Jesus Christ, in order to see more Japanese come to Christ.

My portion of the trip, however, will extend to August 3rd.  Why you may ask?  Because the Lord has opened up a wonderful opportunity to go to language school to learn the Japanese language.  The purpose is two-fold.  This will not only equip me for the future ministry I seek to do in Japan, but also help me with ministry in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  As a member of First Japanese Baptist Church, I desire to continue to engage with the Japanese students that come to Texas to study – and to speak to them in their heart language.  Also, the Japanese population in the DFW has increased due to the Toyota plant being moved to Plano, Texas.  What a great opportunity to share the gospel in Texas!  The language school that I will be attending is Yamasa and it is located in Okazaki (near Nagoya).  Since this is near Nagoya (the place I went to for my first mission trip), I would love to use this as another ministry opportunity and partner with the IMB missionary friends we have there (as well as connect with my Japanese friends!).

The expenses of the trip will cost $10,000.00.  I am praying in faith for the Lord to provide.  I desire your prayers for this trip above all else.  I know that God is going to do great things, and so I ask for you to partner with me in praying for the lost in Tokyo, to prepare their hearts for hearing the gospel, for our team that we would boldly proclaim the gospel of truth in love, that the Church would grow, and that many in the faith would be encouraged.

With your support financially, I will be able to go and participate in this mission trip and language school.  I pray the Lord blesses you for your gracious gift towards the building up of His Church in Japan.

Thank you so much for considering this request.  Your support of me, whether in prayer or finances, is deeply appreciated.
