Custodian of the Year

Earlier this year, our very own Angel Aviles from Main Street School (MSS) was a finalist in the custodian of the year awards. Unfortunately Angel did not come home with the coveted prize. While I was attending a parent teacher conference this morning, I saw first hand the relationship he has built with our kids at MSS.
When he was nominated, I found this quote online which sums up what he does for our community
“Angel is dedicated to making MSS a safe and clean learning environment for all members of the Main Street School community,” Principal Joyce Chapnick said. “He greets every single child with a ‘Good morning!’ every single day of the school year. Beyond the significant connections that he makes with children, Angel has been instrumental in making MSS a special place for all of us – from the community garden, to the playground, to our recycling initiative – he does it all, and with a smile.”
If Angel had won, he was going to bring his child to Disney on vacation (from what I remember). Given Angel is instrumental in our families lives on a daily basis, I ask that we take a moment to give back to Angel and his family. I am starting this go fund me page to raise $3,000 to help send Angel to Disney World with his family. Lets find some kindness in our hearts during this giving season to give back to those who make our community a better place.
**please note, this is completely independent of Irvington School District. We have had no assistance or guidance from the school district. This is being completely managed outside our schools by our community**
