UPDATE: My apologies for the delay on this but it was tough working out the details over the holidays. The scholarship will be facilitated and administered by the Dance Council of North Texas. At minimum, there will be an annual scholarship for $1,000 although we are hoping for two scholarships of that amount. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

On Christmas day, 2017, Dr. Janice LaPointe-Crump's two and a half year battle with ovarian cancer came to an end and the dance community lost one of its strongest leaders.
Please join me in honoring Janice by providing an opportunity for young dancers to hone their craft and continue to grow. The details of this scholarship are still being finalized and will be included here as soon as possible.
In a career that spanned over five decades, Janice LaPointe-Crump had many stellar achievements. Early on in her life she studied and performed with Ruth Page’s Dance Company all the way to getting both her masters and doctorate degrees from Texas Woman’s University while teaching both at TWU and at Arts Magnet (Booker T. Washington School for the Performing and Visual Arts). She published several books and studied dance history with both the Royal Danish Ballet in Copenhagen and the Bolshoi in Moscow. There is little this woman didn’t achieve in the field of dance education.
Janice was a key member of many local and national organizations such as the Dance Council of North Texas, TAPHERD (Texas Association of Physical Health Education, Recreation and Dance).
Mrs. LaPointe-Crump was also a mainstay at the Denton Community Theatre winning numerous awards for her choreography in major musicals.
And most importantly, she was an amazing wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to many.
