Janette’s Everest Marathon for Shaky Radio

On 29 May 2020 I will be taking part in the toughest marathon in the world, The Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon starting at Everest Base Camp.

At age 56 it will be the most challenging thing I have ever done in my whole life, but it will hopefully be a wonderful experience ending with a result, pride in my achievement and memories to treasure.

Compare this to the challenges a person living with Parkinson’s Disease faces every day, and it pales into insignificance.

My chosen cause is Shaky Radio, an internet radio station set up by a man called John Scotter, whose dream was to create a way of sharing music, entertainment and information to those, like him, are living with Parkinson’s.

The station, which went on air for the first time earlier this year, is run by dedicated volunteers, all people who either have Parkinson’s or are connected in some way with PD, who know first hand what it is like to live with its challenges. They are, however, some of the most accepting and optimistic people I have met and the joy they bring to their growing number of listeners in the UK and indeed all over the world, is immense.

But this station does not run without monetary outlay, and I would love to present Shaky Radio with enough money to keep lifting up those for whom this station is truly a lifeline.

I thank you in advance for sponsoring me and helping me fund this fantastic cause.
