Hi, my name is Janet. I'm 67 years old. This past summer, I became very ill. I went to the hospital emergency for liver levels in March and didn't come home until July. I ended up with a triple surgery: aorta aneurysm, gallbladder removal, and colon repair. After surgery, I had to go to a nursing home for rehabilitation. My insurance cut me off before I was healed enough and strong enough to go home. Three appeals later, I was still cut off. I had to agree to pay $200 per day out of pocket to stay, totaling $5000. Caught between a rock and a hard place, as I was too weak to leave. The hospital also wants $2000 out of pocket. The bills are crushing me. I live on social security. I thought when you had insurance and paid on time, you were safe. These are bills I never expected. The stress is breaking me and keeping me from healing properly. I pray to God all the time.
