Jane Brennan's Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Costs

Donation protected
On November 16th, my mom, Jane Brennan, had a major heart attack. The doctor's reported she had ST elevation myocardial Infarction (STEMI), doctors refer to this type of a heart attack as a, "widow maker" episode. When she arrived at the emergency room a defibrillator was used and the emergency room staff performed CPR. To keep her heart pumping blood, a stent was inserted in her left artery and two pumps were inserted into her groin. These pumps were used to help her heart perform so the muscles could rest. Jane had massive heart damage and will need to be on medication the rest of her life.

She is doing better every day, however, she still has organ damage from the lack of oxygen and damage from the medication. Yesterday, November 20th the blood thinner medications were discontinued. She is down to two  now and the doctors and nursing staff still continue to monitor her heart for another blood clot.  Yesterday the two pumps were also removed and she has moved out of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and is now on the cardiac floor of Maine Medical in Portland, Maine. She is making forward progress but still gets tired easily.

Supporting my mom during this financial hardship means so much to me because all of my life I have seen her do everything she can to support others. Sometimes, i think that she  does not have much left for herself.  However,  this is also when she finds herself most content, it brings my mother such joy to help others. I have seen her change people's lives; her presence lights up a room and she extends her help, guidance and overall generosity to anyone. I hope this GoFundME solicitation reaches those that she has helped in the past and people are willing to give back.

She is a staple in the Winthrop Community, from her time at Home Vision Video and Dorothy Egg Farm, her in home childcare and now at Wonder a While Nursery School. She has coached countless children on sports teams, participated in the Rotary club's efforts to help others, and is active in the Winthrop United Methodist Church.

Jane is covered by insurance, but her deductible is a daunting financial amount. Furthermore, she will incur the cost of transportation, medication, medical equipment, etc. For example, a 125 dollar donation will help Jane fill one month of prescription medications. Please consider donating to Jane's medical expenses.

Thank you for your financial support.
