Jamil's Pelvic Cancer Recovery

Over the past year my brother Jamil Ahmed has been dealing with immense pain within his lower back and upper leg. Routine checkups and ER visits were unable to identify the root of the pain. After losing compete functionality of his left leg Jamil was hospitalized on April 19th 2017. He was again misdiagnosed with hematoma, which is a collection of blood in a certain area which was thought to be the cause of the discomfort.
After moving in and out of various hospitals, NY Presbyterian lastly diagnosed Jamil with stage 3 pelvic cancer on May 7th 2017. This rare form of sarcoma allowed the growth of a massive 10 inch tumor throughout his pelvis and femoral nerve. A tumor this size had limited remedies, with surgery being the only option to save him from imminent death.
Jamil has undergone surgery on May 22th in order to remove the mass and limit the malignant tumor from taking over the rest of his body. Along with removing the cancerous mass, surgeons had to remove the femoral nerve which was fused with the tumor. This has left Jamil with the loss of functionality of his left leg and will no longer be able to walk or hike ever again.
For those who know Jamil know his greatest passion in life is hiking and camping with fellow scouts. Jamil is someone who is always willing to help someone in need even if it negatively effects his own wellbeing. He has been a wonderful role model and provided endless leadership for the young men in the boy scouts of America. Despite this event he will still be able to provide the same impact, joy, and adventure, but will not be able to hike alongside these young entrepreneurs.
Our sentiments are with Jamil through this tough time in his life. And although he has survived the surgery this is only the beginning of his journey. Over the next few months he will need to learn how to function without his leg and lifelong passion, though physical rehabilitation. Also while a majority of the tumor has been removed, this cancer has a high potential for returning and will require addtional radiation in order to keep the cancer from returning. I ask that you keep Jamil in your hearts as he needs our support more than ever during this lifelong journey. This whole procces has left him unemployed and drained his savings, so if you can please help him ease this difficult time with a small donation helping with medical bills, rehab, and post op expenses.
