Jamilla and her Brain Surgery

As most of you will already know--Jamilla's surgery was a success! From what we were told, there was no need to dive deeper into her skull for more intensive procedures, which would have significantly extended her recovery time.

However. . .

Her aftercare was staggeringly mismanaged. Without getting into details (for legal reasons), the long and short of it is this: Jamilla's after-surgery pain was not managed, auxiliary medical teams that should have been contacted were not contacted, and the overall experience was devastatingly traumatic for her. We are pursuing proper legal counsel (yes, it's that bad). In addition, Jamilla has some mobility and weakness issues she will be working to overcome that she did not have before surgery. I will be by her side, day by day, helping her in the best way I can and taking care of the household.

Please, more important than anything, keep us--keep Jamilla in your thoughts and prayers. She is a woman of tremendous inner strength (even if she doesn't always feel it or recognize it), but she still has a long wrong to full recovery. There will be days more difficult than others, but continue to cheer her on in any way you can.

If you would like to continue to donate and share the gofundme link, please do so as there is still a need while she is in recovery. And let me take this moment to give the warmest and most sincere "Thank You" to all who have already donated and spread the word. You are irreplaceable and greatly appreciated, not only for the monetary gesture but for the fact that you cared enough to act, and that includes those who cared and couldn't give but shared the link instead. Thank You. Thank You. Thank You.

My name is Alan, and I'm fundraising for my wife, Jamilla. As of the second week of September, we received the surgery date to correct her Chiari-Malformation, which deals with the brain, base of the skull, and the top of the spine. The date of the surgery is October 20th! This procedure will be unlike any other surgery our family has had to go through, with chances of severe complications and moderate to extensive recovery time.

Here is a video of Jamilla explaining the situation in her own words:

As we've drawn closer to the surgery date and discovered more details about the ends and outs of the surgery, I would be remiss to say the possibilities and somewhat unpredictable outcomes aren't frightening, even worrisome. This is, without a doubt, an exercise of faith.

The funds will go towards the well-being of the children (groceries, utilities, etc.), the family members that will be helping, and aiding in the travel expenses, getting to and from the medical facilities. Overall, the funds will be helping on multiple fronts as I, Alan, will be the primary caretaker for Jamilla during recovery.

We appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. We also appreciate every donation.
