Jamie's Forever A Fighter!

This Message is from Jamie's Mom:

On March 26th, my daughter, Jamie was shot by her boyfriend inside her pickup in the Belt Bowl parking lot. Jamie’s door wasn’t shut yet, so after being shot, she fell out of the pickup, but was unable to get up as she was paralyzed from the waist down. She pleaded for her life, as he did not call for help and had no intention of doing so. He finally (after pleading from an unknown bystander) took her to the Mosaic Emergency Room parking lot and dropped her off, where praise God, someone found her and alerted hospital employees.

Dr. Long was the surgeon on call, and as he repeated numerous times, he was in disbelief, that she survived this magnitude of damage from the gunshot wound. Both lungs were collapsed, her diaphragm was damaged, she was paralyzed from waist down, her liver was severely damaged and actually used a procedure that was used in Vietnam war to stop the liver from bleeding.
She had lost so much blood and they had to give her so much blood that Dr. Long thought there was no way she would survive this…BUT, Jamie showed us all how strong and determined she is!! She survived the surgery and made it through the first crucial 24 hrs.

To her family and friends, she looked so helpless and defeated, chest tubes in both lungs, a liver drain, and a respirator was keeping her alive for the next few days…BUT…God had a plan for her! She was moved to the 4th floor after a little over 1 week in ICU and just kept improving, again showing how strong and determined she was to be w/her kids and family again! After spending approximately 2 weeks on the 4th floor @ Mosaic, we were able to transfer her to Madonna Rehab Hospital in Lincoln NE. on April 14th, where she remains and getting the best care and physical therapy.

What an incredible place this is, and so many amazing testimonies!!! She has regained movement in her right leg to her knee and her left leg is slowly showing movement. She has to “cath” herself and rely on help for bowel care as she has no feeling there yet, but we are still hopeful w/time this will come back.

As anyone knows, a catastrophic event like this takes a toll on all involved, emotionally and financially. This is why a GoFundMe page has been generated, to help Jamie and family recover from this horrific act of violence against her.

Jamie’s family truly appreciates your prayers and donation if possible.

God Bless!
