The slightly longer story...
My hairstyle. It's an enigma. An icon. A statement. And an object that sometimes gets stuck in low-hanging trees.

It's the thing that defines me. Some of my more critical 'friends' might say it's the only thing that defines me. It has gotten me involved in countless chance conversations with random people, photo shoots (my image is even utilised for our internal marketing at work), curious onlookers asking to touch it, strange looks from old people, and random high-fives and giggles from children the world over.

I've had it for years. For so long, I can barely remember having a 'normal' haircut. To be honest, I love the attention I get from this hair style, it's great.

And I've decided that I'm going shave it all off... for a good cause. It's not a decision I've made lightly. So I need your help.

A couple of weeks ago I found out that a charity that provides mobile showers in a bus for the homeless in Western Sydney, where I'm originally from, blew its engine. After operating for 2 years, providing over 3000 hot showers and helping many people acquire support and accommodation, their days of restoring dignity have come to a halt (temporarily, if they don't get the support needed).

One young girl (who is a regular patron) relies on their service so much that not being able to shower has impacted her ability to study. Every Thursday she had been attending a bookkeeping course that would eventually help her get employment. Their Shower Service was the only place locally available and now she's struggling to attend, feeling dirty and looked down upon, so the studies have paused.

That is only one example of how important their service is. There are many people who rely on the service for many reasons on a daily basis.

So just to drive this home a little more, homelessness has risen by 14% in Australia, and in Sydney it has risen a whopping 37%! If there's any way I can help address this growing issue, I want in.

So I'm going to cut my hair off. At work. In front of everybody. Three weeks from today (so the 24/4 - the day before ANZAC Day). And if you want to see this happen, you need to pay up.

The good news is a GoFundMe was recently set up to help them fix the engine (that cost was $33,833.07 - you can find out more about it here). However, the bad news is it's an old diesel bus, and will likely have these issues again in the not-too-distant-future so they're seeking funding to buy a completely brand new bus!

New Vehicle Option = $132,000

A new vehicle will last over 20+ years. A new bus will be able to be driven on a car licence and get into locations that a bus cannot. It's also environmentally friendly, fully operating on solar power. I'd like to try and help them achieve that goal.

So if you want me to be a normal normie again, or just go through the humiliation Samson (from the Bible) went through, or you're just curious what I'd look like with a shaved head (not great, I'm assuming), or you think my hair is awesome and you love it, but you want to support an amazing cause - then donate!

I'm going to cut my hair off in 3 weeks from today. As soon as you read this - donate. If you read this again, donate. The more you donate, the shorter my hair goes. Help me support a great cause, and experience the joy / elation / bewilderment / humour of me with no hair up there!

If you can all help me raise up to $5000 for this great cause (I'm setting it at this crazy amount because the sky is the limit, I want to raise as much as possible!) I'd be stoked, and the people who need this most will be too. So remember, this is happening in 3 weeks - super soon! On Tuesday the 24th of April.

Photos and videos will be shared widely for those who can't be present (so no one misses out). Please donate, share among your friends and spread the word, and sharpen those clippers - it's all coming off :)

Thanks in advance and much love,

Jamie
