Jamie Roeher Medical Fundraiser

My sister, Jamie Roeher, is a 35-year-old single mother of three amazing teenage kids who just found out she has cancer in multiple places in her body. She is the most kind-hearted person you will ever meet. With her being seven years older than me, I always tell people that I grew up with two mothers since she was always looking after me. She is always looking to help others no matter the situation, and many members of her local community can back that up.

Last week she went to Logan Regional Medical Center thinking she had a blood pressure issue. Everyone was alarmed when the doctors told her that they saw two concerning spots on her brain and wanted to send her to Cabell Huntington Hospital to have an MRI. The tests at Cabell led to more concern, and more tests. It turns out that cancer has spread throughout her body, but none of the doctors are quite sure where it started. On March 5th they took a liver biopsy but expect up to a week for the results to come back.

This is where we stand as of March 6th:

The doctors are still baffled as to what type of cancer this is and where it’s coming from. They thought maybe it started in her breast, but last night they said the place in her breast is very small and doesn’t show signs of cancer. We are waiting for the doctors to tell us what they know so far about the liver biopsy. If they still can’t tell where the cancer started, they will do a biopsy somewhere else. She is starting day number one (out of 10) of radiation therapy on the places in her head. Once the doctors understand the results of the biopsy they will be developing a treatment plan for the rest of her body.

The road ahead is not going to be an easy one. My sister’s life revolves around her children and her main concern is that they get to continue life as normal as possible. She has a great support system with many family members and friends. Our mother, an amazing elementary school teacher, will be by her side every step of the way which will inevitably require some time off work.

She will have many treatments to come which require lots of travel, hotel stays, gas, food, etc. Not to mention all the medical bills that will be piled up over the months to come.

My hope with this fundraiser is to raise funds to alleviate these unnecessary stresses so that my sister and my mother can focus all of their attention on beating this thing. ABSOLUTELY 100% of the funds raised will be used for this cause.

Thank you everyone for all the love, support, and help! What would we do if we didn’t have our precious family and so many friends around us to carry us through the biggest storm we didn’t even see coming!

MORE IMPORTANTLY... KEEP PRAYING!!!
