Very suddenly and unexpectedly we lost our dear brother, Jamie. He was kind, gentle and had a keen sense of humor. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and have them laughing. He loved preparing gourmet meals for friends and family. He rarely missed deer season with his buddies. He quoted statistics and shared trivia on many sports, but his heart belonged to the Mizzou Tigers and his beloved St. Louis Cardinals.


The horses, dogs and other assorted pets were his own family. So many animals, going to visit was like a trip to the farm. Inside the house, there was music on the stereo or sports on TV and always, there was a dream in his heart.

Jamie often recalled our family history. It might be favorite memories, treasured tales or even revelations of shenanigans I hadn't heard before. Joining in the reminiscing, I told him last week that I still remembered changing his diapers. He didn't seem to appreciate that, but I'll always remember him toddling around with his big blue eyes and head full of curls. It's been a joy to share this past year with him trading recipes, talking politics and the stock market. My, oh my, did he like his food spicy hot! And if he wasn't teasing me, he was making the grandkids scream as he chased them around the house.

A celebration of life will be held September 30 at the Immanuel United Methodist Church, Edwardsville where he was actively involved for several years.
