I am organizing this Go Fund me page for my 42 year old nephew Jamie Michel, his loving wife Dorothy and their big beautiful family who live in Okotoks, Alberta.
Jamie has been in and out of many doctors offices, emergency rooms and hospital beds since March of 2020. Time and time again the test results came back showing "something wasn't right" but often leaving the hospital frustrated , unheard, misdiagnosed.
November 11, 2020 the doctors discovered Jamie has a very advanced, fast growing type of lymphoma. Jamie has many tumours throughout his abdomen and treatment is swift and aggressive.
Jamie has been unable to work for many weeks due to feeling so unwell , because of the delay in a definite diagnosis the family was unable to apply for any sickness benefits during this past year.
This Gofundme page is to help ease the pressure on this family as they will be traveling back and forth to Calgary for treatment, food expenses, medication , and to help with their families basic day to day needs.
Even though this has been a very difficult journey for this couple and their family , they have constantly trusted God to be there for them during these uncertain times. Please continue to pray for this family especially their children and the difficult journey ahead for them all.
Here is an update from Jamie and Dorothy today December 5, 2020:
As an update to where our lives have taken us and as a slight recap. We found out in Nov 2020 that James, my husband, probably had Lymphoma, a type of cancer. It didn't take much to find out it was all over his core body. Having a Pathology report, the cancer clinic in Calgary was able to get moving on a treatment plan, and acted on it fairly quickly. Further testing was considered a luxury, and not recommended as time was important. Nov 25, James recieved RCHOP plus and will continue every 3 weeks. Through the time period leading up to the diagnosis, there have been uncertainties with financial aspects due to areas outside of our control, but we have noticed God's care for us! We have been reminded of the life of Gideon, a man of faith, and how God encouraged him on with the fleece, and even more, from the opinion of the men in the camp interpreting the dream. Judges Chapters 6&7 This isn't to say that the cancer will be cured, but rather we see that people care and love us. That care, in itself, was very encouraging to us. Through people around Canada, and the world, we have been encouraged by the expressions of care from people that may or may not even know us! We want to say "Thank you!" for being a part of encouraging and assisting us!
