James R. Albright & Family

Donation protected
James has come a long way since this fundraising campaign was started, but there is still a long way to go and a lot of medical bills to cover. Leigh Anne is the beneficiary and has direct access to your donated funds . Thank you so much for your generosity.

James R. Albright was admitted to the hospital in Monterey, CA on Thursday, 9/27, about 4 hours from home. Leigh Anne & members of his family have been with him daily every since. This fundraiser has been set up to help Leigh Anne, James & the girls with any and all related expenses during this incredibly difficult time.  Please see below for a summary of what happened and follow James's story for recent updates.

As excerpted/paraphrased from Leigh Ann's FB posts:

Please keep James R. Albright in your prayers. He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday, 9/27 in the morning with possible signs of a stroke (numbness, difficulty walking, mild slurred speech). Stroke has been ruled out but the slurring worsened through the evening and he had significantly reduced mobility. Last thing he said was “coffee and cream” at 3 am when the nurse asked if she could get me something to drink. On Friday morning at 6 am, he could not be awakened and was unresponsive all morning. By 9 am they moved him to ICU and shortly after had to have a breathing tube inserted and he was sedated. On Saturday, his vitals improved and the EEG showed no sign of seizures but did show “slowing” in the brain. As of Sunday morning, he was no longer being sedated, was breathing on his own, but he had still not awakened.

Please pray for answers, James’ healing and family. Thank you! The NUMBER ONE thing that is wanted now is for him to wake up but he has not. His body has been fighting infection from flu but also so much unanswered.  He is  surrounded by love & family. We talk to him, touch him, even taunt him to try to wake him (“I’m gonna let Jessica drive your Porsche”, “you're late for work”, “you're missing the OU game”) but he still sleeps. Please continue your prayers. Pray he wakes up!

And more recently...

Day 83! James has had a good transition to Care Meridian. Getting a lot more therapy and chair time. Neuropathy pain has lessened in shoulders and moving further down his body and into his legs more. Having lots of reflex response in his legs. Upper left leg sensation increasing. Now he’s being put into tilt table and he’s able to tolerate 30 minutes up at the full 60 degree angle. Eating well. Has gained back pretty much all the weight he lost. Today I was able to participate with James in a little group PT time which was a nice change and quite enjoyable. James works so so hard and his attitude and determination is remarkable.

PT gonna work with me over the next week to make sure I’m prepared and we bring him home for Christmas for a few hours safely. He says he’s constantly thinking about being home. That would be a great gift for all of us.

Day 90! James gets to come home for Christmas Day! Lots of emotion but what a special blessing to share a meal, gifts and company in our lovely home.

Thank you all for your gifts, prayers, love and support! We love you all!!
