James Nicholson's Memorial

I wish I Could say that this campaign was to celebrate a big bday bash for James.  But it’s with a heavy heart that I ask for your support in helping raise funds for James’ funeral/memorial service.  Anyone who knew James knew he was a proud veteran and even more proud to have the back of another veteran! A decorated war veteran, we all assumed that the VA would cover a funeral service complete with military honors! And they do, sorta....James will have a dedicated resting place in a national cemetery with plot and headstone provided.  What they don’t tell anyone ahead of time is that the family gets to pay all of the funeral expenses, transportation of the body, travel etc. The family then can file a voucher for reimbursement up to 2,000 dollars. I’m appalled to learn this! That will barely cover a casket. In this day and age. This makes me so sad, 3 tours down range, overseas duty stations, a TBI and 100% disability and THAT is what they offer a family in crisis.  James died suddenly and unexpectedly, nobody in his family speaks military language or understands the VAs blasted protocols.  Why can't a grieving mother, siblings and his previous Jewel of a kindergarten daughter be allowed to just grieve and NOT have to worry about the incidentals?  No mother should have to bury their child. I'm asking you all to please help raise funds so that this process can be easier on the family.  I know it looks like a large amount but if everyone pitches in what they can, it adds up fast! Please join me in honoring James during this devastating time!
