James Martell Family Fund

Donation protected
Sadly, as you have already heard, last week the Martell family suffered a great loss and I lost my dear friend and mentor. In fact, the world suffered a great loss.

James Martell tragically suffered a brain aneurysm late Tuesday night, October 25th, and was taken off life support Thursday morning, October 27th.

It is hard to truly explain how many people's lives James had impacted. His family was able to get good glimpse of this last Thursday with the outpouring of love and support on social media, as well as in the flesh at a family dinner hosted at Sawbuck's Pub (James' favorite spot to work and socialize, and a place where we put literally thousands of hours of work in on our laptops). People they had never met continued to introduce themselves, shedding tears and sharing memories they had of him. Truly amazing to witness.

James was a husband, father, and grandfather first and foremost. I have never seen someone so truly dedicated to family. James is the definition of a family man. The love and absolute pride he had for Arlene, Adam, Shelby, Justin, and Victoria was bursting from him at all times. Anyone who knew him can understand what I mean there. There was never a day that went by that didn't include a conversation about how amazing Arlene or one of the kids was. AND THEN THE GRANDCHILDREN - don't EVEN get me started!!

To watch his beautiful children grown up into outstanding adults, and to see them have their own children made him complete. James lived his best life and lived it to it's fullest. He was happy, totally and utterly a happy man. And it radiated through him.

James was a Pioneer in the Affiliate Marketing industry, and I know that he touched the lives of many of his friends, colleagues and students he came to know throughout his professional journey.

He and Arlene started working online way back in 1999. Their story of building a home based affiliate marketing business began because of the need to be at home with their son Adam, who suffers from epilepsy and autism.  Putting their family first, before anything else, they knew they needed to make things work. His and Arlene's passion for family ultimately was the drive behind his rising success in affiliate marketing. As the true caring man that he was, he shared that success by teaching others how to also succeed online. There are thousands of people who have been able to provide for their own families because of James' teachings. To have such a massive impact on so many people in such a short span of time is truly a testament to how great of a man he was.

A bit of history on how I knew James...

For James and I, it all started at the Piper in 2005, this was pre-Sawbucks era for James  :) Who knew getting a job a this little seaside pub would completely alter the course of my life. When I was working with James people often asked about what we were doing when we were out and about with out laptops, and many times people would ask how we started working together. James loved the story of how it all began, (with a bathroom break, temporarily highjacked laptop, and poem about his family)   and made me tell it often  :) I could go into it here, but that would be another ten paragraphs that no one has time for lol. Besides, I'm pretty sure it's in a podcast or two already, if not, just ask and I'd love to tell it to you one day.

James took me under his wing in 2008, he showed me the ropes of how affiliate marketing worked, helped me build my first website, taught me everything there is to know about outsourcing and is the sole reason for my career in marketing. He gave me the tools and opportunity to work and live overseas, and so much more I can't fit it into this short post. We were pretty much joined at the hip for three years working on hundreds and hundreds of projects together. He was often the first person I talked to when I got up and the last person I saw at night before heading home.

James and Arlene became family to me, and I cannot express the gratitude and love I have for them both. From NY to San Francisco, Las Vegas to Thailand, it's been an epic 14 years of friendship James Martell, and I will him dearly. Last week was devastating, and my heart is truly broken to pieces. But I look forward to celebrating James' life with all the people you cherished most, and look even more forward to watching his grandbabies grow up and have babies of their own <3

The reason for this GoFund Me...

James and Arlene touched a lot of lives, and now is the time to give back to them. The proceeds of this fundraiser will go to cover the costs of James' Celebration of Life this Saturday.

As many of you know, James and Arlene were a two man team. Arlene's life has completely changed in an instant. Not only has she lost her partner of 39 years, but she is loosing a business as well. She spoke last night about not being able to continue on this journey without him.

"I can build a website, and produce podasts, but that was James' dream. I supported his dream for the past 20 year, and now it is time for me to figure out what my dream is. It will take some time to figure out, but I know there will be a new path for me." - Arlene Martell

Anything above the goal to cover the costs of the service will be going directly to Arlene, to help support her financially as she takes time to grieve and figure out what her dream, and future will look like.

Any donations are so greatly appreciated, and I encourage you all to share with anyone who you know cared for James, Arlene, or was impacted by them in some way.

Sending my love to everyone out there who is feeling this loss.

Warmly,
Kimberly
