James M. Ortega’s Cremation & Memorial Fund
Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing to you today, with a heavy heart and great sadness that I have to inform everyone that my father, James M. Ortega passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021.
On March 21, 2021 my father tragically collapsed at the assistant living home. As many of you already know my father wasn’t in the best of health. He had a blood infection and pneumonia which contributed to cardiac arrest. They performed resuscitative measures at least three times with shock until they were able to stabilize him. We waited hopefully and patiently to see if his condition would improve.
Unfortunately, the MRI concluded he was in an eternal vegetative state. Knowing my father’s wishes, we switched him to patient comfort until he passed away.
We are all devastated by my father’s passing. I was not prepared for the high cost of cremation and shipping him home to Chicago. I am currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of cremation, shipping, and keepsakes.
Please consider donating any amount as this will truly help our family during this difficult time.
my father was a very loving, caring, and God-fearing man. He will always live in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
at this time, due to COVID-19, and memorial service has not been planned, but we will keep everyone updated via Facebook when something can be arranged hopefully in the near future. As for my fathers request we will be scattering most of his ashes throughout the city of Chicago and having some keepsakes made for his grandchildren.
Also, if you can please send me any copies of photos stories or memories of my father, Jimmy that you would like to share or would like to include in the memorial service, please email [email redacted]

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
