James Hinesley Memorial Fund

Sue, Mary, Molly and I are pleased to announce that we have aligned our efforts for James' Memorial Fund with Franklin, TN based The Refuge Center for Counseling.  TRC started in Franklin back in 2005. 

The Refuge Center is in the process of raising money for a sorely needed new facility which will be located across the street from the neighborhood where James grew up. We have had numerous opportunities to meet with one of the founders, Amy Alexander, and we are enthusiastically  on board with their mission to provide professional counseling services to our community. TRC is a faith-based , sliding fee scale counseling facility offering a variety of mental health care services for those struggling with addiction, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and PTSD. They also offer marital and family counseling. They desire to offer help, and hope, for all who need it.  

Recently, we toured the land that the new center will be built on. It is a beautiful, peaceful, wooded  property sitting right off Long Lane, the road that James took every day on his drive out to Page High school. We have lamented, more than a few times, that we wish the center would have been there during 2018 when James was struggling with depression. Maybe he would have felt inclined to reach out.

It is our ardent hope that some other young person, perhaps also suffering in silence like James and on that same drive, will see the Refuge Center and be prompted to get the professional mental health counseling help they desperately need. Making a positive difference, even with just one family, will mean the world. 

Your funds will go toward the construction of the facility playground, designed as a relaxing place for siblings and parents to use while a family member is in session.   As the youngest of three, James usually found a playground to enjoy while his sisters were at some activity or another, so we thought this very fitting. 

Now, especially in these challenging times,  professional mental health care services are badly needed.  It is our desire that by supporting The Refuge Center, we will be able to make a difference in the lives of families who are seeking help, and hope.
