James Ankele

James was admitted to the hospital in Boeise, Idaho last Tuesday (8/7/18) for vomiting and dehydration.  By Wednesday he became confused and unaware of what was happening. Doctors are still waiting for results of the tests to see if it could be West Nile Virus, CMV, bacterial or viral meningitis. The wait seems endless for the blood and spinal fluid cultures to come back. Labs were sent off to a Salt Lake City by the Infectious Disease Doctor that will test for West Nile Virus. Today, Saturday, James was placed in ICU. He is unresponsive to doctors and nurses but does respond to pain. He had an MRI of his head which confirmed encephalitis (inflammation of the brain). With him not responding his breathing became hard, which was causing high blood pressure and heart rate. Doctors placed a breathing tube so it could take the strain off his body from overworking itself. All the doctors are still waiting for the extensive testing to come back to figure out what virus he actually has. It is wait and see if he comes out of it at this time. On a good note, his kidney and pancreas transplant are doing well which they are monitoring closely. Jennifer is with him but this has been extremely difficult for her. They live over an hour from the hospital and she works full time. The funds raised will go directly to Jennifer to help her be able to stay at the hospital with James. James has a loving and loyal heart who has touched many hearts.
