UPDATE 3-13-19

We know it's been awhile since you have heard from us.  Sarah is continuing her fight to gain full disability status.  With help from Senator Steve Daines' office, the Social Security office is reconsidering her application. Please be praying that this process is completed with a positive outcome for Sarah and her family.

Medically, Sarah had brain surgery just before Christmas to help with her Trigeminal Neuralgia which is a condition separate from her HD diagnosis. The surgery recovery has been a challenge but Sarah is doing very well regaining balance and strength with the assistance of OT and PT.

As Sarah waits for the next steps in her journey, she has, with her friends and family, formed a local HD support group that is meeting monthly, bringing those affected by HD and their caregivers together to share resources, encouragement, and friendship.  She is also producing a newsletter for the group that highlights new developments in  HD research and other resources that may benefit the group members.

We continue to ask for support for Sarah so she can focus on healing from the surgery, the HD support group, and being an awesome mom and symbol of strength, courage, and reliance on the Lord.

If you would like more information, please contact Sarah directly.

We appreciate each of you, your generosity, and your prayers!   THANK YOU!!

Kenje & Sarah

Financial Goals include monthly expenses and medical bills for surgery, medications, and multiple therapies!  Donate here at gofundme or at her bank: 1st Montana Bank 1336 Stoneridge Drive, Bozeman, MT.  This account is a 501c3 and your donation is tax deductible.

New Short Term Goal $15,000! This includes our initial goal of $5000.

We are so grateful for all who have helped us reach our initial goal to ease the Jakkola family's immediate needs!! Thank YOU!!

Instead of making a large one-time request for assistance, we have decided to post smaller short term goals throughout Sarah's transition and beyond as needs arise.

We hope that you will join us as we tackle this new goal!

As Sarah prepares at work for her retirement, she is also needing to prepare financially at home. Sensibility, she is strategically planning for the jump from a monthly income to receiving disability and additional medical coverage.

Disability will not equal her current income and not all her therapies will be covered by Medicare or the benevolence fund at Bozeman Health Care.

A financial cushion would make this transition more stable.

Sarah's wishes, after retirement, include staying in their current home as it is a great fit for her and the kids.  After researching other housing options it really is the best for them. Government funded housing options are not readily available in Bozeman.

Continuing needed therapies, seeking eye care, meeting deductibles, replacing her mechanically challenged car and paying on past medical debt are all necessary, ongoing expenses.

These are financial expenses that we, as her friends and family, can cover to show our continuing love and support for Sarah.

We hope you will join us!

Please feel free to share Sarah's story with your friends and family.
