This sweet boy is Jake. I adopted Jake in January after loosing both my childhood dog and cat.

Jake is the biggest ham and immediately became my bestfriend. He's the best snuggler around and loves to curl up in my lap. He sleeps beside me every night and always greets me when I come home. He is only 2 years old.

Jake has always been very vocal. I swear he thinks he can have conversations with you. About a week ago, I noticed Jake was quieter than normal. I also noticed he hadn't pooped in a few days so I brought him to his normal vet that Tuesday.  The vet assured me that he was fine and probably just had some sort of stomach bug. Thursday roles around and he didn't seem to be drinking or peeing so I brought him in again. This time, the doctor gave Jake IV fluids and told me to give it a few days. If Jake peed, we were in the clear. He didn't have any kind of urethra block. Well shortly after the fluids, Jake peed and I rejoiced! I thought he was on the mend and felt comfortable leaving him with my roommate for the weekend while I went camping.

Well, I was wrong. While I was away, Jake stopped eating and his skin took on a yellowish tint. When I came home Sunday night I immediately rushed him to the MSPCA Angell Animal Hospital in Jamaica Plains. He was admitted that night and extensive tests were done. We were praying for some sort of liver infection- something that could be treated with antibiotics.

This breaks my heart to say, but my Jakey was diagnosed with Large Cell Lymphoma yesterday. It is in all his lymph nodes. This kind of cancer is rare in cats so young. In fact, the doctor said she has never seen anything like it. They can't figure out why the cancer is affecting his liver, but it is. And my Jakey is not doing well. He has spent the last 2 nights in the ICU.

Because Jake is so young and so special, the doctor and I have decided to try chemo. Jake had his first chemo treatment last night and will continue to come in once a week. He is unfortunately still in the hospital as he is not eating or drinking on his own. As soon as he can do that, I can bring him home and try to make him as comfortable as possible.

My fellow animal lovers know that this kind of veterinary care is not cheap. I have never thought about setting up one of these GoFundMe things. I never thought I would have to, but my worst nightmare came true yesterday. My baby boy is sick, really sick, we the both of us need your help.

Please donate anything you can to help Jakey get the chemo treatment he needs. He is such a sweet soul and does not deserve this. If I could, I would take his place. Jake is my rock, my very bestfriend. Coming home to him is the best part of my day. No matter what life throws at me, I thought Jake would be by my side for at least another 10 years. I am absolutely heartbroken knowing he has to go through this. Please help me give Jake the longest life possible.
