Jake has brain and spine cancer.
But Jake is not defined by his cancer.
He is a sport-mad, funny, cheeky, loving teenager and his parents Adrian and Emma are determined to do everything they can to ensure his quality of life continues to improve.
Jake Rafferty is from Halling, Kent. Jake is 14 years old and was diagnosed with cancer six years ago. By the time doctors discovered the disease it had already spread to his spine. The operation to remove the cancer left Jake paralysed and wheelchair bound.
In 2016 Jake was due to have the loose rod keeping his spine straight adjusted.
During the pre-op assessment doctors found that the cancer had returned and had spread to Jake's spine and entire brain.
In September 2016, Jake's parents were told to take Jake home for his final few hours.
But Jake had other ideas. He wasn't going anywhere.
Through specialist food supplements, changes in diet and treatments such as PEMF, infra-red saunas and oxygen therapy, Jake's tumours have shrunk and his overall health is improving every day.
But these therapies are not cheap and are not currently available on the NHS. We have been very lucky with support from family and friends and companies but any donation, big or small would be truly welcome.
